Assessment

A Member’s progress is routinely assessed on a case by case basis, the Member’s  ability to undertake medicolegal work being defined  as a Competency (Malik, Bhugra and Brittlebank, 2011).

Both   formative and summative instruments are used and a Reflective Approach is followed. The Member’s ability to undertake Reflections both “in action “and “on action” is assessed and both are encouraged.

The completion of three supervised cases is mandatory over a three-year period or less, whichever is the soonest. Supervised case reports are expected to be provide by the Member and their form and content are examined for the purpose of assessment. Case reports must be made available in good time.

Engagement in CbD’s is also mandatory and completion of at least two documented CbD’s a year is expected. Use of the Dedicated CbD form which is available to download from the Group’s website is required.

Assessments are normally conducted remotely in the format of a Professional Conversation (De Cossart and Fish,  2005)  and feedback is immediately available Opportunities to conduct Assessments “ in person”  are also  available  by private arrangement.
