Qualifications and Experience.

No previous medicolegal experience or qualification is required to join GS Medical Group however previous Attendance at a suitable introductory medicolegal course is mandatory. Excellent introductory Courses are available from several training organisations and their details are available online or directly via the useful links

Applicants must be Members or Fellows of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and have the required level of clinical Indemnity. Section 12 Approval under the Mental Health Act (1983) is mandatory requirement.  

Candidates must be engaged in Continuing Professional Development as it applies to their role and hold a Certificate of Good Standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Membership of the Multisource Assessment of Expert Practice (MAEP) is expected and very strongly encouraged. Details of the MAEP system are available on the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ website.
