Members of GS Medical Group undergo Appraisal with the Group which is provided by a Supervisor. The Group’s Appraisal Form is available to download from the Group’s website.
Experts are expected to complete the Appraisal Form in readiness for the Appraisal meeting and email it to the Appraiser.
Members undergo Appraisal on a yearly basis either in person or remotely. Participation in Appraisal is mandatory.
Appraisal meetings under GS Medical Group are normally conducted remotely in the format of a Professional Conversation ( De Cossart and Fish 2005) although opportunities to conduct Appraisal meetings “in person” are also available on demand.(Box 3 ).
Appraisal under GS medical Group is a function of Clinical Governance and Members of GS Medical Group are expected to undergo Appraisal under the GMC rules on a yearly basis under the GMC rules and be affiliated with a Designated Body .
Aa a rule, the GMC requires all doctors to be affiliated with a Designated Body and the appointment of a Responsible Officer. Details of the Appraisal and Revalidation system are available on the GMC website.
